Our Custom Home Building Process

Your Custom, Dream Home, Built Step by Step

The most common questions we receive are, “What is the process like?” and “How do we get started building a custom home?” At Joseph Mohr Construction, Inc., we believe the process should be exciting and enjoyable from start to finish! Here's a step-by-step breakdown of how we’ll turn your vision into reality:

  • It all starts with finding the ideal location for your dream home. We have an in-house REALTOR who can help you locate the perfect lot in a location that suits your family’s needs and lifestyle.

  • Send us photos, designs, or color schemes of homes that inspire you. This helps us understand your vision and begin crafting a home that reflects your style.

  • We’ll sit down with you to complete a comprehensive wish list. We’ll talk about your wants, needs, and must-haves, ensuring every aspect of your dream home is carefully considered.

  • Based on your wish list, Joe will begin sketching a preliminary hand-drawn design for your custom home. This sketch will incorporate all of your family's needs and desires.

  • After a few collaborative meetings, we’ll fine-tune the design until it’s perfect. Once everything is finalized, the custom blueprint will be sent to our draftsman to create detailed plans.

  • Once we have the necessary building permits, the construction begins—and so does the fun! This is when your dream home starts to come to life.

  • Over the next few months, you'll meet with our vendors to select every detail, from the exterior materials to the interior finishes like tile, cabinets, and fixtures. Every decision is in your hands, making your home truly unique.

  • As the building progresses, you’ll witness the preliminary sketches turn into the home of your dreams, with every detail you envisioned coming to life.
